Really nice, traditional cuisine of England. We’re visiting from Belgium and wanted to experience the ‘english dinner’. 20 for haddock chips with a nice tartare sauce. Sauce is always included. After eating u can take a walk in the portobello road. There is an artisanal market and the famous bookstore were nottinghill was recorded

“Lady Godiva meal” - for 6 you get a generous portion of proper British fish & chips (x3 fish bites -one is missing from the pic cos I ate it). Chippy style chips, thick cut, and deep fried cod, in golden crispy batter. When ordering, the staff emphasized that this was a kids’ meal, ie a half portion, but this was more than enough. Ketchup/mayo is 50p. Great fish and chips.

I have just finished my Rock & Chips from Poppies. (I had takeaway) The food was really good. I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near as nice as it was. Certainly didn’t expect to be served decent fish and chips from a tourist trap like the Portobello Rd. The fish was excellent.

Don’t know why the ratings are so low. The fish was crispy yet soft and tasty inside. Staff was friendly. Only mushy peas tasted strange.
